Applying for Graduate Studies
We will be accepting applications for September 2017 as of November 1st, 2016.
We do not accept applications for January or May admission.
Deadline to submit completed international applications is: April 14th, 2017
Deadline to submit completed domestic applications is: June 30th, 2017
Due to limited spaces, only a small percentage of applicants gain admission.
Meeting the minimum requirements DOES NOT guarantee admission.

ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS MUST BE UPLOADED TO YOUR APPLIATION PRIOR TO HITTING SUBMIT.
Official documents are only required to be submitted in hard copy if an offer of admission is made, or otherwise requested.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS INCLUDE:
- • TRANSCRIPTS
- Copy of official transcript of academic work completed to date.
- • CV/RESUME
- In the same format as you would submit for an employment opportunity.
- • STATEMENT OF INTEREST
- A few paragraphs indicating the type of research you are interested in pursuing.
- • ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
(Required if English is not your native language, unless you have Graduated from
an Institution in Canada, US, UK, or Australia.)
IELTS: 6.5 or above TOEFL: 88 or above
- • RECORD OF LANDING
For Permanent Residents of Canada only.
A Front and Back copy of your Permanent Residency card is required.
- • TWO ACADEMIC REFERENCES
Submitted electronically via mosaic by the referee once your application is submitted.
Working references will not be accepted in place of academic ones.
Once ALL your application material is uploaded, your application status will be changed to COMPLETE.
Once complete you are not required to do anything further.
It is your responsibility to make sure that your application is complete.
Offers of admission will be made on an ongoing basis until all spaces are filled.
If you are made an offer of admission by the School of Graduate Studies, you will be required to provide all official documents upon arrival at the University, unless otherwise stated.
Applications deemed to be inadmissible will be notified as soon as possible.
Please note: Any submitted documents will not be returned, nor will they be transferred to another department within McMaster University.
The application fee is $100 in Canadian funds (or the EQUIVALENT in US funds) for application fees paid online by Visa or MasterCard.
