Welcome to the Canadian University Basketball Discussion List, an electronic forum for discussion of Canadian University hoops.

This list began in 1993. Since then, it has grown from the original 15 members, and now has representation from all regions of the country, with in excess of 750 subscribers. Included are most coaches and several players.

This list will discuss all aspects of Canadian University hoops, and will contain game reports, analysis, previews, scores, statistics, and general discussion. The CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) has been kind enough to provide the list with scores and standings updates, as well as stats. I am deeply indebted to the CIS for their support of this list. It is hoped that this list will help to foster growth of the Canadian University game, one of the most exciting sports around, by using this expanding medium to inform universities and fans alike of the goings on in other parts of the nation. Too often, fans in one part of Canada don't know what's happening elsewhere in the country, other than receiving scores (which seldom tell the whole story).

The Canadian University Basketball Discussion List is operated and moderated by Dale Stevens (stevensd@mcmaster.ca) . To post a message to the list, simply send it to Dale Stevens, and it will be forwarded to the subscribers. Due to time constraints, the list may operate in somewhat of a "digest" format (ie. multiple messages sent as one larger message to the list). This will depend on the volume of messages, and the time constraints of the listowner.

The following are the guidelines for the Canadian University Basketball Discussion List:

  • The Canadian University Basketball Discussion List is administered by Dale Stevens. Please direct any list messages, inquiries, corrections, or requests to Dale at stevensd@mcmaster.ca .


  • Please include your name and e-mail address in the text of your message, so folks will know who wrote the message.


  • No "anonymous" messages will be forwarded, unless there is a "legitimate" reason for such a message, which will be at the discretion of the moderator.


  • This list will discuss all aspects of Canadian University hoops.


  • Regular "netiquette" will apply. No "flaming" or "woofing" will be tolerated. Such messages will not be forwarded to the list. Please substantiate your opinions with facts or analysis. For example, I will not allow someone to simply say "Team A is better than Team B", or similar comments. If you want to post such a message, you MUST back it up with facts. I intend to keep this list "friendly", and will not allow messages which invoke possible flaming. (Sorry to sound harsh on this point, but I really want to use this list for information and constructive discussion.) A list "review group", consisting of 3 members, reviews posts which the moderator considers "questionable".


  • When posting to the list, please avoid the using ALL CAPS. It is often very hard to read.


  • If you have a question or comment for an individual member of the list, which you feel would be better sent directly to that person, please send private e-mail to the original sender.


  • If you are posting a response to private e-mail, or e-mail received from an outside source, please remember to ask the permission of the original sender.


  • If you have to unsubscribe from this list, please let the Moderator know, so that he can remove your address from the system.
