Welcome to SE 4DB3 / 6M03, a course intended to
introduce Database Management Systems with emphasis on relational data modeling,
relational database systems, and the SQL query language. Information about FacilitiesThe DBMS we are using, IBM db2 version 9.7 under Linux operating system, only runs on db2srv3.mcmaster.ca server belonging to CAS department. In order to use db2, you have to log onto the server - a remote login is possible. You do not need any special account for that, you need just a general UNIX account that is good for all our department machines. If you do not have such an account, please contact the instructor as soon as possible. Please note that students registered in this class must log onto this server to be able to access the database SE4DB3. Login on other db2 servers will give you access to db2, but not to the database SE4DB3. It is each student's responsibility to be aware of the information on the course Web pages, and to regularly check for announcements and course news. The instructor and university reserve the right to modify elements of the course during the term. The university may change the dates and deadlines for any or all courses in extreme circumstances. If either type of modification becomes necessary, reasonable notice and communication with the students will be given with explanation and the opportunity to comment on changes. It is the responsibility of the student to check their McMaster email and course websites weekly during the term and to note any changes. |
