Lisa Fleischer is an Associate Professor of Operations Research and Mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University, where she is the recipient of an NSF CAREER Award. She is currently a visiting researcher in the Optimization Center at IBM Watson Research. She received her PhD in 1997 from Cornell University and received the INFORMS George Nicholson Prize for her thesis work. In 1997, she joined the faculty of the department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Columbia University, and moved to Carnegie Mellon in 2000. In between, she has been a visiting researcher at the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics in Louvain la Neuve, Belgium; and the Fields Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Toronto, Canada.
She has served on the program committees for the 2002 Symposium of Discrete Algorithms (SODA) and the 2002 European Symposium on Algorithms (ESA); and she is on the editorial boards of Operations Research and Operations Research Letters.
