Course Project (for 6WW3 graduate students only)

Graduate students are expected to complete a course project. The topic of the project will be chosen in consultation with the instructor, and should be approved by the instructor by early February. Students will research the topic, and present their ideas and findings in a written report, and as a short presentation to the class at the end of the term. The written report should describe the topic or problem, existing techniques, your approach and ideas, and a critical analysis justifying your solution. You will be graded on both your class presentation and your written report. More information is available here.

Project Presentation Information and Schedule

Instructor's Notice

  • The instructor and university reserve the right to modify elements of the course during the term. The university may change the dates and deadlines for any or all courses in extreme circumstances. If either type of modification becomes necessary, reasonable notice and communication with the students will be given with explanation and the opportunity to comment on changes. It is the responsibility of the student to check their McMaster email and course websites regularly during the term and to note any changes.
  • If you do not write a test/exam, and do not provide an acceptable medical doctor's note, you will be assigned a mark of zero.
  • Any requests for re-marking must be done (in writing) within 1 week of the return date.

Academic Dishonesty

You are encouraged to discuss course content with fellow students, but your submitted assignments, tests, and exam should be based on your own work, ideas, and conclusions. Copying from other students or external sources (without appropriate citation) is strictly prohibited. Do not misrepresent someone else's work as your own. When you submit assignments with your name on it, you are certifying that you have done the work on that assignment yourself. Plagiarism and cheating will be dealt with seriously (e.g., grade of zero on assignments/tests/exam, loss of course credit, or suspension/expulsion from the University). For further information on academic integrity, please see the Academic Integrity Policy.

Accessibility

Students with accessibility needs may receive accomodations for completing assignments and exams. Please contact the Centre for Student Development for advice and for arranging assistance. Students are encouraged to talk to the instructor about this issue.

Discrimination

The Faculty of Engineering is concerned with ensuring an environment that is free of all adverse discrimination. If there is a problem, that cannot be resolved by discussion among the persons concerned, individuals are reminded that they should contact their Department Chair and the Human Rights and Equity Services (HRES) office as soon as possible.
